Support

These are the same problems the in-app Troubleshoot list covers, plus permissions and how the local link works.

PC can’t open the page

Phone and PC must be on the same Wi‑Fi, or join the phone hotspot. Mobile data alone is not enough. Use the current link from this phone (http://, not https://). If the IP changed, scan the QR again — don’t reuse an old bookmark.

Hotel / guest Wi‑Fi

Some networks block devices from seeing each other even when both are online. Restarting the phone will not fix this. Turn on the phone hotspot and join it from the PC.

VPN is on

A VPN on the phone or PC can hide this device from the local network. Turn the VPN off, then try the link again.

Waiting for PIN or Allow

If you set a PIN, enter it in the browser. On the phone, Allow the computer when it appears (banner at the top). If you revoked the device, request access again from the browser, then Allow on the phone.

Files missing

Grant file access in Android settings if it was denied. Check that the shared folder is the one with your files (including SD card or USB).

Transfer stuck or failed

Stay on the same Wi‑Fi or hotspot. Keep the phone awake. For large uploads, free storage first. Use Transfers on the phone to pause, resume, or cancel.

Sharing keeps stopping

Android battery saving can kill the server. Allow unrestricted battery for LocalLink. Keep the app open during long transfers.

Still nothing works

1. Stop sharing, then Start again. 2. Toggle Wi‑Fi, or turn the hotspot off and on. 3. Restart the phone. 4. Open LocalLink, Start sharing, and scan the QR again — don’t reuse an old link.

What permissions are for

Photos, videos, and music so the computer can browse and transfer media. Notifications so the phone can show that sharing is running, that a computer is waiting for Allow, and that a chat message arrived.

HTTP, not HTTPS

The phone hosts a local HTTP server. That is not a TLS session. PIN and Allow control who can open files on the LAN; they are not a substitute for encryption on the wire.

Crash reports

Off by default. In Settings you can send anonymous crash reports to Sentry to help improve the app. File transfers still stay on the local network.

Which phones

The sharing server runs on Android. The computer only needs a modern browser.
